Course Overview
Beginners
Level 6: Downhill skiing with directional changes at a controlled speed, skiing in schuss, snow plough, long gliding snow plough, single turns, multiple turns, using the lifts, diagonal skiing, sliding, controlling speed.
Level 5: Basic level carving, guided turns, alpine skiing conduct - movement exercises, diagonal sliding, steering training, reducing the angle of the skis for narrower turns and the use of sliding and steering for speed control.
Piste skiers
Level 4: Parallel turns; long radius (wide) carving basic level – reducing the angle of the skis and introduction of parallel turns, use of different techniques depending on the situation/conditions, pole use – dependent on individual coordination.
Level 3B: Parallel turns, long and short radius, pole use, parallel skiing with smooth movements, reduce ski radius, high and low bending movements, edges training.
Level 3A: Carving – long radius turns; turning and steering with the edges and along the sidecut of the skis, rhythmical downhill skiing with short turns
First tries on steeper slopes and in deep powder snow, varied skiing according to ability; high and low bending movements, edges training, speed control.
Advanced Level
Level 2B: Carving, long and short turns, dynamic directional turns, downhill skiing on steep slopes, rhythmical skiing through deep snow, skiing according to ability and conditions, keeping speed, correct conduct in an alpine environment, use of avalanche transmitter equipment.
Level 2A: Varying downhill skiing and ski touring according to ability and situation, dynamic piste skiing with confident turns, introduction to mogul pistes. Correct conduct in an alpine environment, use of avalanche transmitter equipment.
Advanced Level
Level 1B: Ambitious and varied downhill skiing/ ski touring, dynamic piste skiing at higher speeds, mogul pistes, correct conduct in an alpine environment. Use of avalanche transmitter equipment.
Level 1A: Fine-tuning and automatisation of technique, mastering the different turns and knowing when to use them – also under difficult conditions; demanding and ambitious off piste skiing and ski-touring.
